So what’s all the fuss about? According to Journal editor Steve McDonald, “it isn’t so much a fuss as an exciting
time for the industry.” The excitement has to do with a new web site developed by the Sanitation Journal that has
been designed to connect contractors, special event coordinators and governmental agencies with portable restroom
contractors.
“After visiting New Orleans and seeing the results of Katrina the disturbance to me also included the thousands of
portable toilets that had been literally dumped into the area. I suppose everyone has the right to make a dollar when
they can but a majority of these were from companies that were not even in the business and making it worse was
the fact the units were not being serviced,” explained McDonald.
“It was a disgrace to our industry and to those that were forced to use units that were not being serviced. One
company we know of, purchased three thousand units and never bought a single truck to service the units. With
everything that was taking place in the chaotic situation, industry professionals should have been engaged to
conduct the service.”
“Simply, I felt like FEMA and all the other agencies working in the area needed to be fully aware of their options. In
these type of situations everyone goes online. The site has been developed so that anyone can find a professional,
suitable for the job. Obviously, a situation such as Katrina called for professionals to be used hundreds and
thousands of miles outside the effected area.
According to McDonald anyone can go online and find a provider for construction and special events. In a disaster
situation there is also the option of viewing service providers along with equipment they have to offer, emergency
contact info, states they are willing to serve and previous governmental agencies worked with.
Standard listings are free to all Sanitation Journal subscribers. “There are options for upgrading listings such as
adding web site links, graphics of slogans. Upgrades such as these cost only 10.00 a year which is to help offset
the costs of keeping the site updated. For inclusion in the Disaster Response section the cost is $60.00 per year.
Searches are conducted by city. If a contractor is doing an out of area job he can type in the name of the city
where service is required and have a ready to go contact.
“We are still waiting for several companies to update their records by providing us with all the cities they serve. It
can be a bit of a time consuming job but the more cities provided the stronger the quantity of leads that can be
expected. In the first couple of months, some companies have reported as many as twenty contacts.

Finding Portable Toilet Rental
Contractors Has Never Been Easier
Portable Sanitation Is A key Component in Responding To A Disaster Situation
|
We have compiled a list of portable toilet rental contractors that possess the ability to respond to a disaster situation
such as flooding, hurricanes, earthquakes and fire. They are experienced portable toilet contractors with the know
how and ability to respond to a FEMA request. This listing provides FEMA as well as other governmental agencies
with the ability to meet the portable toilet demands typical in a natural disaster.
Natural disasters come in all forms and in all times of the year. There is a lot more to portable sanitation than simply
buying equipment. FEMA personnel responsible for securing portable toilets meeting the needs of the public they serve
can with confidence seek out professionals that know all the intricate details of portable toilets as they pertain to a
disaster ( emergency ) situation. There is no company on the list that has not previously conducted work for
governmental agencies including FEMA. There are no get rich schemes and each portable toilet rental contractor
understands the need to provide portable sanitation in unique situations as experienced during floods, hurricanes, fires
and other disaster type situations.
Disaster is not a time to capitalize on the needs of those in need but requires a knowledgeable base sufficient to meet
the needed portable toilets that spare the community from further abuse. We strongly encourage governmental entities
such as FEMA to select portable toilet contractors familiar with dealing with disaster situations and with the need for
providing sanitary conditions to those that have already have been hit with disaster. Portable toilets and portable
sanitation contractors understand the importance of maintaining sanitation and while hoping to be profitable hope to be
a part of the answer and not the problem. If you are facing a unique disaster challenge we encourage an immediate
