How a PJN3 Saved a Brand New Truck

day because he had two advertising guys in the truck with him. They had asked to tag along because they wanted
to learn more about PolyJohn products and the portable sanitation industry.
The very first service stop of the day was at a little-league baseball field in Lynwood, IN. The location of the
restroom units wasn’t ideal and John had a little trouble getting the truck around a newly constructed concession
stand. The two gentlemen from the ad agency got out of the truck with him to see what was done at a service
stop. He patiently answered all their questions as he finished his work. They all climbed back into the cab.
They continued to ask questions and John became distracted. The next thing they heard was a loud crunching
sound. John had crashed the back of his truck into the concession stand.
The three jumped out to see the damage and were amazed at what they saw. One wall of the wooden hotdog stand
was destroyed, but the truck was undamaged because there were two PJN3s strapped to the back to absorb the
blow. The corner of one restroom unit took the brunt of the collision. It was a little bent and one rivet had popped
out. When John pulled the truck forward, the unit popped back into shape—good as new except for the missing
rivet and a scratch or two.
John was glad that the truck wasn’t damaged. He hoped his insurance would cover rebuilding the concession
stand. Replacing a rivet on the unit would be no big deal. On that day, the ad guys learned everything they needed
to know about the toughness of the PJN3.
Who would have thought that a plastic toilet could save a brand new truck and deliver such a wallop to a wooden
building?
Means You Earn More
A restroom for every grandkid!
“In 15 years, one restroom unit I bought from PolyJohn made $11,700 for my first grandchild,” said Richard
Godwin of Lenawee Sanitation in Tecumseh, MI.
Richard explained to us a program he created for his 11 grandchildren. Whenever a grandchild is born, he buys a
new PJN3 and applies all the earnings for that unit to the child’s college education. The oldest is now 15. That
child’s unit has been earning $65 a month for the last fifteen years for a grand total of $11,700. With three more
years left before college, he’ll have a pretty good start on tuition.
“I have been in business for 17 years, and every PolyJohn unit I have ever bought new is still in service earning
money. I started in the business by buying 12 used PolyJohn units and all but one of those is in my fleet today.
The one I lost burned up,” Richard explained. “PolyJohn keeps every part in stock, so if a unit is damaged, no
matter how old it is, I can get a replacement part and put the unit back into service. It doesn’t make any sense to
me to buy a cheaper unit that won’t last. Sure, I could save a few dollars today, but I don’t believe my grandchild
would have earned $11,700 with any other brand. That’s more than 30 times what I paid for the unit!”
Here’s why PolyJohn restrooms are so tough!
PolyJohn has tested a variety of ingredients and combinations in their plastics to find the formula that gives us the
longest life in the sun. We add three additional ingredients to our polymers: a process stabilizer for heat stability
(anti-oxidate); a hindered amine light stabilizer; as well as an ultra-violet radiation absorber.
We also carefully select the pigments we use to color our products for heat and light stability so they won’t fade or
change color over time. As we learn more, our units get better and better.
Since we are the only manufacturer to create our own plastic sheet, we can control for qualities like UV stability.
Our plastic is durable in both freezing cold and hot desert conditions.
Our durability in heat was a likely factor in the US Army’s decision to use PJN3s in the previous Gulf War, in
Afghanistan, and today in Iraq.
The PJN3:
Nearly Indestructible and 100% Fixable
It’s how she will look twenty years from now that matters.
Remember the original Volkswagen Beetles? The body style didn’t change for 25 years. No matter how old your
“bug’ was you could buy new parts, fix it up, and it was good as new. For a few bucks, it always got you where
you wanted to go.
The PJN3 is sort of like that. It doesn’t have fancy pictures molded into it. It doesn’t look space age. It’s not a
cute little house. But in this business, nothing will get you where you want to go faster. The PJN3 is a workhorse,
and it looks like one.
Because it will help you earn more, we think it’s gorgeous!
The Largest interior in the industry and built to last
The tough PJN3 is perfectly matched to the needs of today's construction, farm and recreational industries. Our
design team spent many years listening to customers and end users to create what we believe is the most
comfortable and durable portable restroom ever.
The new PJN3 also benefits from a unique space saving interior design making it the largest interior in the
industry. It is 11.9% larger than the next largest competitor’s standard unit and 18.4% larger than the smallest
competitive unit.
If you think that size doesn’t matter. You need to spend some time like we did, watching construction workers
with their tool belts, big steel-toed boots, hard hats and thick coats trying to come and go from the smaller units on
the market. With a ceiling height of 6’10”, a PJN3 can comfortably accommodate just about anybody.
Although the interior is bigger, the doorframe is more than 20 times stronger, and the plastics are tougher today
than they were 20 years ago when we started out, it still looks pretty much the same, and that’s exactly why 20
year-old units are still earning top dollar for their owners and why owners can always sell their PJN3s when they
retire from the business.

We have parts available for every unit we ever made and we always
will. Do you think the Johnny-Come-Latelys will have parts when you
need them down the road? If you plan to stay in this business you
better hope so.
