Fred Cutler Sr. Portable Restroom Innovation
When Barry Gump presented Fred Cutler, Sr. With the third
annual M.Z. Andy Gump award for distinguished service to the
portable sanitation industry, Fred described himself as
speechless. Later Fred commented, “The award is truly
appreciate. It’s great that there is an award given to those that
make contributions to the industry. I’m truly honored.”
Fred, founder of Sani-Hut Inc. Operating in Reno, Nevada,
opened his portable restroom business in 1960 with an inventory
of mostly wood portable restrooms and a truck.
Sani Hut, one of the original founders of the PSAI has evolved
considerably during their past 36 years of doing business and is
widely considered to be an industry leader. “You wouldn’t
believe the lack of information that was available back then,”
Fred Said, adding “if you are interested in your own business you
need to get involved with PSAI, you don’t get anything out of it,
unless you put something into it.”
