No - Portable Restrooms Do Not Explode
|
Reports last year of a man lighting a cigarette inside of a portable restroom causing an explosion, blasted across the
nation. When it was finally revealed that it was not methane gas produced by the portable restroom that caused the
explosion, news reports were sparse.
Law suits have been filed but the suites have nothing to do with the actual portable restroom-guess you could say
the unit was found not-guilty.
A West Virginia man, 53-year-old John Jenkins had stumbled in, sat down and lit a cigarette when the unit suddenly
exploded. According to John he doesn’t know if he was catapulted out the front door or simply jumped.
Regardless John received injuries in which he seeks $10 million in damages.
The suite filed against Peabody Energy states that Johns’ face, neck, arms, torso and legs were severely burned
during the incident that took place in July of 2004.
John, an employee of the nearby methane power plant says that heavy equipment from Chisler Inc. Ran over the
methane filled pipelines before the explosion, causing the methane gas leak.
