Ed Cooper Passes Away
Ed Cooper, President and founder of PolyJohn Enterprises, located in
Whiting, Indiana passed away this morning, Monday, October 29, 2007
after a long battle with cancer.
Ed was known to many for his many special attributes including honesty
and integrity. During the PSAI show held last week in Tacoma,
Washington, Ed was named the recipient of the coveted “MZ Andy Gump"
award. Son, Mike fought back tears accepting the award on his father’s
behalf. Ed was often acknowledged for the many good things that he did.
In 2005 he was named the second ever “Person of the Year” recipient
honored by the Sanitation Journal.
Ed was 67 years old and married to his wife of 46 years, Sandra. In 1984,
Cooper joined his brother-in-law George Hiskes, and George Harding, and
together the three purchased a small company in Troy, Mich., where they
began manufacturing portable toilets. The business has grown to be an
acknowledged world leader. The couple has two sons, Michael and
Kenneth, who had joined their father in his business, and one daughter,
Wendy.
The service is scheduled to be held on Friday November 2 at 10:30 am
